It’s time for another monthly roundup! December was a whirlwind, to say the least- keep reading to find out what I got up to!
The month started out on a pretty exciting note- I was a featured contributor in 805 Living Magazine’s December issue, where I had not one, but TWO eggnog themed recipes published (one of which was a recipe for Eggnog Marshmallows that has appeared previously on this very blog). Squeal!
If you know me at all you know I LOVE eggnog anything, so I was thrilled to be a part of this story.
Ok. I’m not gonna sugar coat it. December was kick-me-in-the-crotch, knock-me-on-my-ass, INSANELY busy- professionally speaking.
It was without a doubt the busiest month of the year, and quite possibly the busiest month of my entire personal chef career. I catered SO. MANY. PARTIES.
Don’t get me wrong- I am over the moon grateful and so appreciative for all the business. And it was an incredibly rewarding feeling to have pulled it all off successfully. But I couldn’t have done it without several cups of my trusty friend, coffee.
I did make sure to squeeze in some holiday goodness in between all that work. We decorated the house, and Marmalade was pleased as pie to have an indoor tree to curl up under day and night. Both kitties wasted no time making the water bowl on the tree stand their own personal watering hole, so our poor Christmas tree dried out rather quickly. What’s up with that? Did anyone else’s pets fancy the Christmas tree water?
There was also a whole lotta holiday baking going on. There were cookies, of course…
and there may even have been some sort of holiday themed donut making extravaganza that occurred at some point?
Suffice it to say it was necessary to balance out all that sugar with some nutritious meals, but I managed to keep even the healthier goodies true to the Christmas spirit, like this Gingerbread Breakfast Smoothie, which believe it or not is actually loaded with mega good-for-you ingredients!
Of course there was plenty of time with family and friends, including some much needed sissy time 🙂
And gifts. I’ve never been one to show off what I got for Christmas, but I have to give a shoutout to my BFF Shea, who brought home the most thoughtful gift from her trip to Seattle. I’ve already been experimenting with some of these spices and it’s a true foodie playground!
New Year’s Eve always comes too soon doesn’t it? I catered a dinner party this evening and had another to cater on New Year’s Day, so even though we were both totally wiped from the whole month and had ZERO energy to party it up, John and did I manage to stop by a friend’s mellow shindig and it was the perfect way to ring in 2016.
We were promptly in bed 30 minutes past midnight.
#OldMarriedCouple (even though we haven’t even started planning our wedding yet! Eek!)
I hope your December wasn’t quite as exhausting as mine and I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2016! I don’t know about you but I’ve relished starting out my year with a nice long catnap, like this guy!
