S’mores Latte – The coziest, most decadent coffee drink you’ll ever make!
Folks, today we are going to dive into one of the most decadent and indulgent coffee drinks of ALL TIME. But not in a sickeningly sweet kind of way.
More like, take your favorite childhood treat and turn it into liquid, caffeinated GOLD. That’s what this S’mores Latte is all about.
I actually can’t stand coffee drinks that are too sweet. This is why I order my flavored coffee drinks with only one pump of syrup/flavoring, on the rare occasion that I even order out for coffee at all. These days I’m super content to make my coffee at home.
Now, let’s get into this S’mores Latte, because who doesn’t want their coffee spiked with chocolate syrup and sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs and toasted marshmallows?
How to make a S’mores Latte:
To nail the S’mores look, dip the rim of the coffee mug into the chocolate syrup followed by the graham cracker crumbs.
This S’mores Latte recipe uses my all-natural chocolate syrup to flavor the coffee and to rim the mug, but any chocolate syrup will do to turn plain old coffee into a rich, tasty mocha.
Then all that’s left to do is froth up some hot milk in your frothing device of choice and then go crazy with the campfire treat toppings!
Which milk is best for frothing?
Non-fat or skimmed milk provides the largest foam bubbles and is the easiest to froth but since there is no fat in the milk, the flavor is not as rich as one would expect of a latte.
2% milk foams effortlessly and has a more creamy taste than non-fat milk. Whole milk is tad more challenging to achieve perfect froth. The fat in the milk weighs down the foam, but it does make for a rich tasting latte.
Can I make this S’mores Latte with dairy-free milk or nut milk?
Other types of non-dairy milk such as soy, almond or coconut milk will froth initially. Note that the foam will not hold up as long as dairy milk. Organic and lactose-free milk do not froth too well which has to do with the pasteurization process of these milks.
Tips for making S’mores Latte:
- To make the best S’mores Latte get your milk steamed and ready to go while you brew your coffee so you can quickly assemble the drink.
- If you don’t like burnt marshmallows, just keep the flame a few inches away from the marshmallows, making sure to constantly rotate the glass / mug. That way you’ll lightly brown the surface instead of lighting the whole thing on fire.
- I recommend 2% milk for this S’mores Latte recipe.
- You can pre-heat your latte cups to ensure the milk maintains proper temperature. Pour hot water in the mug and let it warm up. That way the S’mores Latte won’t cool down when you pour it into the cup.
