Prosciutto Wrapped Poached Plums

Prosciutto Wrapped Poached Plums are a lovely choice for summer entertaining- these seasonal bites are a breeze to prepare and pair so elegantly with wine (especially if you serve the same wine you poached the plums in).

  • 1 cup red wine such as Estancia Pinot Noir
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 small handful assorted fresh herbs such as rosemary, thyme and marjoram
  • 1 2- inch strip lemon peel
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 plums halved, pitted and sliced into wedges
  • 8 slices prosciutto halved


  1. Bring red wine, sugar, herbs, lemon zest and salt to a simmer in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer until sugar dissolves, then add plums and continue to cook for about five minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and let stand for ten minutes. Strain plums from poaching liquid and allow to cool completely.
  3. Wrap each plum with a piece of prosciutto and serve.
